About the role#
The Operations Excellence Intern supports continuous improvement initiatives at Ott/In-Situ. You will work directly with the VES Leader and operations teams to document workflows, gather data, and assist with Lean and 5S projects. This role provides hands-on experience in manufacturing environments and focuses on identifying ways to improve productivity and inventory management.
What you'll do#
- Observe and document operational and material-flow processes.
- Conduct time studies and collect process data.
- Assist with process mapping and workflow documentation.
- Analyze data related to inventory, replenishment, cycle counts, and material shortages.
- Identify waste and uncover potential improvement opportunities.
- Support 5S assessments, audit checklists, and visual standards.
- Prepare reports and presentations to summarize your findings.
- Provide progress updates to the VES Leader.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Manufacturing, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented approach with a genuine interest in Lean and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work on-site in manufacturing and warehouse areas.
- Exposure to Lean, 5S, process mapping, or continuous improvement concepts is preferred.
- Experience collecting, organizing, or analyzing data.
