About the role#
As a VDC - MEP & Utility Intern, you will work with experienced professionals across our VDC, engineering, estimating, and construction teams. This role involves contributing to projects where VDC is central to planning, coordinating, and building complex systems. You will see how digital models translate into real-world construction and support prefabrication and installation efforts.
What you'll do#
- Gain hands-on experience with BIM, 3D modeling, construction drawings, and digital construction technologies.
- Coordinate Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, High Voltage, Technology, and Utility systems to improve constructability and reduce field conflicts.
- Use digital models and Interventor to identify and resolve conflicts before they reach the field.
- Gain exposure to quantity takeoffs, estimating, bid preparation, and project planning.
- Work directly with internal teams to contribute to projects from design through construction.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Building Science, or a related field.
- A strong interest in VDC, BIM, MEP systems, utilities, or construction technology.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn.
- Comfort learning new technology and software.
- Experience with Interventor, Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, or other BIM/modeling platforms is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship position.
- The role is based on-site in either Lewis Center, Ohio, or Carey, Ohio.
