About the role#
As a Data Support Intern, you will join the Visa Risk & Analytics team for a four-month internship. You will support data-driven decision-making for the Vancity Visa credit card portfolio, including account originations, portfolio monitoring, and credit strategy development. This role offers hands-on experience with data analysis and reporting in a financial services environment.
What you'll do#
- Gather, clean, validate, and organize data from multiple sources to support daily Visa Risk & Analytics activities.
- Use Excel, SQL, and other tools to manipulate data and investigate quality.
- Analyze trends and prepare insights to support business decisions.
- Create spreadsheets, presentations, and documentation for managers and analysts.
- Collaborate with Visa Planning & Settlement, Payments Operations, and Risk & Analytics teams on assigned projects.
- Support data quality reviews and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Maintain data files and reporting materials.
- Contribute to analytical projects supporting Visa portfolio management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program in Business, Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Finance.
- Interest in reporting, analytics, and the financial services industry.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel for data manipulation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Extra consideration is given for experience with SQL, Python, R, or SAS.
