About the role#
We are looking for a Mining Engineering Intern to join our team at the Round Top Mine in Sierra Blanca, Texas. This internship takes place during Summer 2027. You will work on-site to support the development of a new surface rare earth mining operation. You will gain hands-on experience with mine planning, engineering analysis, and field activities as we move the project toward construction.
What you'll do#
- Support mine planning and design activities for a surface rare earth mine.
- Assist with pit design, mine sequencing, haul roads, material movement, and production planning.
- Analyze geological and mine planning data to inform engineering decisions.
- Assist with mine development studies, cost estimates, and technical documentation.
- Conduct field investigations, surveying, site assessments, and data collection.
- Prepare maps, drawings, reports, and spreadsheets.
- Collaborate with teams across geology, mineral processing, environmental, and permitting.
- Evaluate safe and efficient mining methods for rare earth ore.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Strong academic foundation in surface mining, mine planning, or engineering principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work safely in both office and field environments.
- Familiarity with mining software, CAD, or GIS is a plus.
- Previous experience in mining, geology, or field work is helpful.
- An interest in rare earth elements and domestic mineral resources.

- Work Modality: On-site at the Round Top Mountain project, including drilling pads and core storage facilities.
