About the role#
The United Nations Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies (UNODET) is seeking interns to support the AI Governance for Humanity Lab. This role involves contributing to research and operational workstreams that help guide the organization's approach to digital cooperation and AI governance. Interns work under the supervision of senior team members to gain exposure to the Lab's activities and mission.
What you'll do#
- Conduct desk research on AI governance, digital policy, and emerging technology issues.
- Monitor and analyze global trends and regulatory developments in AI across different jurisdictions.
- Prepare research briefs, background notes, and analytical summaries for internal use.
- Assist with the preparation of events, consultations, and multi-stakeholder dialogues.
- Draft concise meeting notes, summaries, and action trackers.
- Support stakeholder engagement activities, including managing contact lists and participation records.
- Provide project-based programme, administrative, and operational support.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a graduate school programme, the final academic year of a university degree, or having already graduated with a university degree.
- Completed at least four years of full-time studies if your education system does not divide into undergraduate and graduate stages.
- Demonstrated interest in AI governance, digital policy, or emerging technologies.
- Strong analytical, research, organizational, and coordination skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to synthesize complex information clearly and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively in an international environment.
- Experience supporting events, stakeholder engagements, or administrative coordination is helpful.
- Familiarity with AI regulatory or policy discussions is preferred.
Location & details#
- The position is based in Valencia, Spain, or available as a remote role.
- Modalities include full-time or part-time options.
- The expected duration is 3 to 6 months, with a desired start date of November 2026.
- This is an unpaid internship. Interns are responsible for all costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses.
