About the role#
As a Kitchen Extern, you will join the team at Union Square Cafe. This role focuses on developing your culinary skills while supporting our daily kitchen operations. You will work alongside experienced cooks to learn station setup and prep techniques in a professional restaurant environment.
What you'll do#
- Support our culture of Enlightened Hospitality.
- Work with the prep and receiving team to receive, label, and store market deliveries.
- Assist line cooks with component preparation for service.
- Learn to set up a station independently.
- Communicate effectively with the kitchen team.
- Refine your cooking techniques and grow your professional skills.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support the kitchen.
What you'll need#
- Prior experience in a kitchen environment through culinary school or similar education.
- A strong passion for food and a desire to build your skills.
- Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time.
- English fluency.
