About the role#
This internship offers the chance to work on FPGA-based systems within our Two Sigma Securities team. You will spend 10 weeks working on a specific project, supported by a mentor, and present your findings at the end of the term. You will collaborate with our hardware, software, networking, and quantitative teams in a hybrid environment.
What you'll do#
- Design, simulate, and test digital logic for FPGA systems.
- Build reusable RTL components and verification environments.
- Develop tests and debugging tools using Python, SystemVerilog, or similar languages.
- Investigate functional and performance issues using simulation and waveform-analysis tools.
- Gain experience with synthesis, timing analysis, and FPGA implementation workflows.
- Explore hardware-software interfaces and integrate components into larger systems.
- Document your work and share your results with the team.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Completed coursework or projects in digital logic, computer architecture, embedded systems, or computer networking.
- Familiarity with a hardware-description language like SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL.
- Basic programming experience in Python, C, C++, or similar languages.
- Understanding of digital-design concepts such as combinational and sequential logic, finite-state machines, pipelining, and clocked circuits.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Experience gained through coursework, labs, research, student teams, or personal projects.
- An interest in learning about FPGA development, verification, networking, and low-latency systems.
