    About the role#

    Turning Point Community Programs offers an internship program designed to integrate classroom theory with practical skills in mental health care. We host students from over 100 universities across more than 50 programs. Interns receive structured, weekly clinical supervision that focuses on evidence-based practices, diversity competence, and ethical responsibilities. This is an unpaid, full-time, on-site role with rolling start dates.

    What you'll do#

    • Conduct intakes and apply diagnostic criteria for major disorders using the DSM-5.
    • Perform case management duties, including bio-psycho-social-spiritual-cultural assessments and plan development.
    • Engage in therapeutic and supervisory alliances based on established clinical practices.
    • Participate in group processes, moving from co-facilitator to lead facilitator roles as you progress.
    • Provide therapy or counseling once you are assessed as ready.
    • Examine theoretical and empirical literature to support your clinical work.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a university program related to Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Public Health, Nursing, Health Administration, Nutrition, or Biomedical/Pharmaceutical Sciences.
    • Ability to meet your specific university placement requirements.
    • Readiness to engage in training opportunities while meeting ethical and legal standards.
    • We accept Medical Students, Residents, Nurse Practitioners, and Clinical Nutrition interns.

    This role is on-site at locations in Rancho Cordova, Chico, Modesto, Stockton, Fairfield, Santa Rosa, and Grass Valley, California.
