About the role#
Turning Point Community Programs offers a structured internship program designed to integrate classroom theory with practical application in mental health care. Interns receive weekly clinical supervision and participate in a range of professional development activities tailored to their specific university requirements and individual experience levels.
What you'll do#
- Participate in structured, weekly clinical supervision focused on therapeutic and supervisory alliance practices.
- Conduct intakes and manage client cases, including the development of bio-psycho-social-spiritual-cultural assessments and level of care evaluations.
- Co-facilitate group processes and observe dynamics, with opportunities to move into a facilitator role.
- Engage in training on various practice theories and interventions such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and trauma-informed care.
- Support members with specialized clinical needs and assist with resource research regarding SSI, Medi-Cal, and other community services.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a university program, specifically within fields such as Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Nursing, or Public Health.
- Knowledge of ethical and legal responsibilities in clinical practice.
- Understanding of diagnostic criteria and research-based interventions.
- Ability to apply diversity competence through treatment models and effective interventions.
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively in clinical supervision.
