Safety Co-Op / Internship, Spring / Summer 2026

About the role#

Turner Construction is offering a Safety Co-Op/Internship for the Summer 2026 term. This full-time position provides hands-on experience in safety and loss control, working either on-site at an active construction project or within the Vancouver office. You will work under the direction of a supervisor to support the implementation of project safety programs and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.

What you'll do#

• Assist with the implementation of the Building L.I.F.E. (Living Injury Free Everyday) and project safety programs.
• Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices, with a focus on situations involving imminent danger to life or property.
• Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning meetings, and toolbox meetings.
• Conduct worker orientation programs for new employees and administrators while maintaining accurate participation records.
• Maintain critical safety records, including pre-task plans, Job Hazard Analyses, training records, incident investigations, metrics, and chemical inventory sheets.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in an accredited degree program in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, or a related field, with at least one year of completed education.
• A strong desire to work in construction management and learn about the industry.
• Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles and techniques.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills through student leadership, volunteerism, or community involvement.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

• Compensation: CA$20 to CA$23 per hour, depending on academic year and experience.
