Summer 2026 Intern - VA/DC

About the role#

Turner Construction Company is offering a Summer 2026 internship for students interested in construction management. This full-time, paid position provides hands-on experience in the construction industry, allowing interns to apply academic knowledge to real-world projects. You will work under supervision to build foundational skills in project coordination, financial management, and safety protocols.

What you'll do#

• Assist with daily project activities, including material tracking, file management, document control, and progress reporting.
• Coordinate meetings and communicate with project teams, architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Support project start-up and close-out activities, including the processing of shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance with safety programs and quality control standards.
• Attend site visits to observe and document field activities, perform quantity take-offs, and assist with schedule tracking.
• Maintain professional relationships and provide regular progress reports to your supervisor.
• Comply with all safety protocols and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in an accredited degree program in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
• At least one year of completed education or equivalent training and experience.
• Must be at least 18 years of age to work on a construction site.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills, such as student leadership, volunteerism, or community involvement.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment with a proactive, curious approach to learning.
