About the role#
The Mechanical Engineering Intern will join our team for a 12 to 14 week period during the summer of 2027. You will work on-site in Chippewa Falls to help implement manufacturing process improvements and support cost savings initiatives. This is a full-time role designed for students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with mentors and team members to identify methods for automating manufacturing processes.
- Use a structured engineering approach to deploy best practices for process control and yield improvement.
- Lead capital project efforts to resolve issues related to production capacity and technology capability.
- Compare existing manufacturing practices against industry benchmarks and propose improvements.
- Create or update process documentation and work instructions.
- Present project updates to the local leadership team.
- Travel as needed to attend workshops and trade shows.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in a Mechanical Engineering Bachelor's program.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience applying engineering concepts to solve problems.
- Capability to design and analyze experiments using statistical tools.
- Strong verbal, writing, and presentation skills.
- Experience with project management and structured problem solving.
- Ability to lead and participate in cross-functional teams.
- Commitment to making data-based and ethical decisions.
- Eagerness to learn quickly.
