About the role#
Project Design interns work directly with the Tippmann Construction team, including Sales, Estimating, and Project Management. You will assist in developing site and facility solutions during both the sales cycle and the construction process. This role involves drafting design options, planning projects, and presenting solutions to leadership.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with Sales Leadership to understand client business needs and operational processes.
- Translate requirements into site and facility design options for stakeholders.
- Use CAD, 3D Modeling, and BIM tools to create detailed designs.
- Provide information to the Estimating team to help develop project costs.
- Modify design options and resolve open design issues as requested.
- Support Project Management teams throughout the construction phase.
What you'll need#
- Working toward a Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, Computer Graphics Technology, or a related field.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar drafting technology.
- Experience with 3D Modeling and BIM concepts.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to lead decisions within a team.
- Proficiency with MS Office, particularly MS Excel.
- A self-starter mindset with the ability to work with limited supervision.
- Understanding of industrial facility design (architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection) is preferred.
- Knowledge of the Food Processing and Distribution industry is preferred.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, at the Tippmann Group Corporate office.
- The term is Winter 2027.
- This is a full-time, paid position.
- Occasional travel to project sites may be required, with an expense program for eligible travel, meals, and lodging.
- Candidates must pass a pre-employment background and license check.
