About the role#
The Student Aid Advisor serves as an undergraduate financial aid counselor. This position is responsible for administering institutional, outside, and federal or state scholarships and aid programs. The role focuses on helping students identify funding sources to manage their Bursar balance while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
What you'll do#
- Counsel returning undergraduate students on building comprehensive financial aid packages.
- Administer federal and state aid programs, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met.
- Maintain regular communication with students and their families through meetings, phone calls, and digital messaging.
- Review and process financial aid documentation in a timely manner.
- Assist in updating office forms, policy manuals, and student communication materials.
- Participate in student recruitment and on-campus events, including occasional evening or weekend sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive data in accordance with privacy mandates.
What you'll need#
- Minimum of an Associate degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Thorough knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Strong customer service orientation and a positive, proactive attitude.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
