About the role#
The Shipyard is seeking a part-time Digital Experience Design Intern to join the team in Columbus, Ohio. This paid position involves working 20-24 hours per week within a collaborative agency environment. You will work alongside experienced designers to create thoughtful digital experiences that balance user needs with business goals.
What you'll do#
- Create intuitive and engaging digital experiences using human-centered design principles.
- Collaborate with strategists, writers, developers, and other designers throughout the design process.
- Assist in the creation of wireframes, user flows, interface designs, and prototypes.
- Apply design fundamentals including typography, layout, hierarchy, and color to your work.
- Participate in design critiques and incorporate feedback into your design iterations.
- Design responsive websites, landing pages, social assets, and digital marketing materials.
- Support the maintenance of design systems and digital brand standards.
- Manage multiple assignments while maintaining attention to detail and meeting project timelines.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Graphic Design, UX/UI Design, Computer Science, Media Studies, or a related field.
- A digital portfolio that demonstrates strong visual design skills, creative thinking, and problem-solving.
- Proficiency with Figma and a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Strong understanding of design fundamentals including typography, layout, color, and composition.
- Familiarity with UX/UI principles, responsive web design, and user-centered design methodologies.
- Basic understanding of HTML/CSS.
- Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with a collaborative mindset.
Location & details#
- Location: Columbus, Ohio. This is a hybrid role requiring in-office attendance on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- Term: Rolling.
- Employment: Part-time, paid internship.
