About the role#
The Social Media Specialist Intern supports the Communications team by developing content to increase awareness of the African American Male Wellness Agency mission, programs, and community impact. This position focuses on creating trend-driven digital content that educates and motivates audiences to participate in organizational initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Create and publish content across social media channels including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube.
- Produce reels, short-form videos, and graphics to promote initiatives such as Black Men's Wellness Day, Uplift Her, and Real Men Real Talk.
- Attend community events and health programs to capture photo and video assets.
- Use editing tools to transform long-form video into short-form content.
- Write captions, assist with editorial calendars, and support community management by monitoring engagement.
- Analyze social media metrics to provide recommendations for improving reach and participation.
- Collaborate with the team to develop storytelling content regarding participant experiences and organizational achievements.
What you'll need#
- Current student pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Media, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Ability to create engaging reels, graphics, and short-form video content.
- Understanding of social media platforms, trends, algorithms, and emerging content formats.
- Proficiency with Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar creative tools.
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Submission of a portfolio or examples of social media content.

- Location: Columbus, Ohio.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Paid internship.
- Schedule: Full-time (up to 40 hours per week) with some evening and weekend availability required for events.
