About the role#
The Social Media Specialist Intern will support the Communications team by developing content that increases awareness of the Africentric Personal Development Shop's programs, services, and community impact. This role focuses on creating culturally relevant digital content to educate and connect individuals with available resources.
What you'll do#
- Create and publish engaging content across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube.
- Produce reels, short-form videos, and graphics to promote behavioral health resources, family services, and community events.
- Attend programs and events to capture photo and video content.
- Use editing tools to transform long-form content into short-form videos.
- Write captions and assist with content planning and editorial calendars.
- Monitor social media analytics and audience engagement to recommend content improvements.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to develop storytelling content that highlights client success stories and organizational impact.
What you'll need#
- Current student pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Media, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging reels, graphics, and short-form video content.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, algorithms, and emerging content formats.
- Proficiency with Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar creative tools.
- Excellent written communication skills, creativity, and attention to detail.
- Portfolio or examples of social media content.
Location & details#
- Location: Columbus, Ohio (On-site).
- Term: Fall 2026 (August 24 to December 11).
- Commitment: Up to 40 hours per week, with some evening and weekend availability required for events.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship intended for students seeking college credit.
