About the role#
The Mill Operations Intern program provides hands-on experience within a fully integrated flour milling operation. You will work alongside industry leaders to gain exposure to grain handling, packaging, quality assurance, food safety, maintenance, and supply chain management. This role involves time in both office and plant environments, offering insight into how products move from grain receiving to the finished product.
What you'll do#
- Observe daily operations across departments including flour milling, grain elevator, packaging, maintenance, quality assurance, and sanitation.
- Collaborate with team members and plant leadership to understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Track the flow of raw materials and finished products through the facility.
- Assist with projects focused on production, process improvement, food safety, and operational efficiency.
- Develop an understanding of the end-to-end supply chain and key operational challenges.
- Participate in daily and weekly production, safety, and operational meetings.
- Engage in a learning-focused environment by asking questions and seeking feedback.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Agriculture, Food Science, Milling Science, Grain Science, Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
- Interest in a career within the food manufacturing, agriculture, or milling industry.
- Strong attention to detail, dependability, and a solid work ethic.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for training, vendor visits, or project support.
- Initiative to communicate effectively and ask thoughtful questions.
