Data Engineer Intern

About the role#

As a Data Engineer Intern, you will join The Hartford’s Technology, Data, AI, and Operations organization for a Summer 2027 internship. This role focuses on building and maintaining the infrastructure that enables analytics, reporting, and AI-driven insights. You will work on systems that transform raw information into reliable data assets, gaining hands-on experience in a hybrid professional environment.

What you'll do#

• Build and support data pipelines that ingest, transform, and prepare data for business and analytical use.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable data solutions.
• Apply data engineering tools and techniques to develop reliable data assets.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and performance through profiling, validation, and monitoring.
• Gain experience supporting data solutions that power analytics and AI capabilities.

What you'll need#

• Current pursuit of a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Cybersecurity, or Business Administration.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Experience with programming and querying, specifically Python, SQL, and PL/SQL.
• Familiarity with data engineering concepts including ETL/ELT, data pipelines, and data transformation.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Interest in AI and emerging technologies.
• Authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
