About the role#
The Christman Company is hiring an Estimating Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 program in Sterling, Virginia. This full-time, paid internship offers hands-on experience in construction estimating and project planning. You will work on-site to gain exposure to various building types and delivery methods.
What you'll do#
- Read and interpret project drawings and specifications.
- Survey and quantify materials from drawings.
- Organize quantity takeoffs so they are easy to audit.
- Contact and follow up with trade contractors and suppliers to gather pricing.
- Participate in active project site visits to observe construction processes.
- Assist with 4D modeling and facility asset management models if focused on Virtual Design and Construction.
- Learn about mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and how they interact with building architecture.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student (Sophomore through Senior level).
- Pursuing a bachelor degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Ability to work on-site in Sterling, Virginia.
- Authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
