About the role#
The Cary Company is seeking an AI / Automation Intern to join our team for the Summer 2026 term. This full-time, on-site role is based at our headquarters in Addison, Illinois. You will work on practical projects to build AI and automation tools designed to increase efficiency across the company. You will receive clear project direction and structure to ensure you can ship meaningful work each week.
What you'll do#
- Build and improve workflows using tools like Zapier, Power Automate, or Make to eliminate manual tasks.
- Create reusable connectors, triggers, and templates.
- Develop lightweight internal AI assistants for tasks such as drafting, summarizing, and data lookups.
- Index internal SOPs and FAQs to support knowledge management.
- Support a pilot program within one department by tracking usage and time-saved metrics.
- Deliver 3 to 5 live automations or AI tools, complete with documentation and an end-of-summer demo for leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a rising junior or senior in Computer Science, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with automation platforms such as Zapier, Power Automate, or Make.
- Proficiency in basic Python, including API calls, JSON handling, and simple scripting.
- Familiarity with OpenAI or Azure OpenAI.
- Strong documentation habits and a bias for action.

- Term: Summer 2026 (10 to 12 weeks).
- Compensation: Paid position ($18 to $20 per hour).
- Requirements: US work authorization is required.
