About the role#
The Aspen Policy Academy is hiring a part-time Social Media Intern to help with content creation and digital strategy. You will report to the Program and Communications Coordinator and work with the Strategy and Operations Manager. The goal is to build the public profile of the Academy and support our Fellows as they work to have a policy impact. This is a 12-month internship requiring approximately 10 hours of work per week. Your schedule may adjust based on program needs and your school calendar.
What you'll do#
- Engage with the community on social media through likes, comments, and reposts.
- Pitch, write, and post content on LinkedIn, Instagram, X, and Bluesky.
- Create and edit graphics, photos, and video content.
- Track, analyze, and report on social media metrics.
- Research trends to refine our social media strategy.
- Turn existing news posts and reports into engaging content.
- Build and maintain influencer databases.
- Develop campaigns to highlight Academy programs and alumni success.
- Assist with recruitment emails and general operational tasks.
- Attend training sessions to learn about policy advocacy and hear from guest speakers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student.
- Strong writing skills.
- Experience with social media management, video editing, and graphic design.
- Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively.
- Creativity and the ability to think strategically about campaigns.
- A genuine interest in policy, social impact, and nonprofit work.
- A portfolio featuring 3-5 social media posts or other professional communications work.
Location & details#
This is a remote position. Candidates based in San Francisco, California, are preferred to help capture in-person content at Academy events. This is a paid internship.
