About the role#
We are looking for a Communications Intern to join our team in Sault Ste. Marie. This role supports our communication efforts across Canada, with a focus on the Industrial Centre. You will gain hands-on experience by creating content, connecting with employees, and assisting with daily department operations. This is a temporary one-year contract for 20 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Create, organize, and produce content including articles, graphics, videos, and multimedia materials for internal and external channels.
- Draft, edit, and proofread written materials like newsletters and event updates.
- Design visual assets using Canva and Adobe Suite.
- Walk the mill floor regularly to gather insights and stories from employees while following all safety guidelines.
- Support the planning and execution of key initiatives and events.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align content with communication goals.
- Assist with daily department tasks, including digital asset management, reports, and content calendars.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Creative Media, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Professional proficiency in English (C1 level or equivalent).
- Proficiency in Canva and familiarity with Adobe Suite.
- Experience with social media platforms, especially Facebook, and internal tools like SharePoint and Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to tailor messages for different audiences.
- Basic skills in photography, videography, and graphic design.
- Ability to work independently and within teams.
- An energetic, self-starting attitude and the ability to conduct research and analyze data.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site at our manufacturing mill in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
- This is a paid, part-time internship with a duration of one year.
- The hourly pay range for this role is $25.00 to $33.50 per hour, based on experience, education, and skills.
