IT Cyber Security Student Internship

About the role#

This internship provides students with professional experience within the TECO Energy IT Security Department. You will work alongside teams focused on the Cyber Fusion Center, Governance & Risk, and Identity & Access Management to support daily operations and security maturity projects.

What you'll do#

• Monitor IT security tools and applications on a daily basis.
• Conduct root cause analysis documentation and assist with security investigations.
• Document key cyber security performance, threat, and risk metrics.
• Collect and present network and computer evidence to support vulnerability mitigation.
• Review servers and networks for vulnerabilities, patching status, and antivirus signature aging.
• Update security processes and desk-level operational procedures.
• Assist with daily tasks related to identity and access management.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check, including criminal, employment, and motor vehicle records.
• If applicable, proof of enrollment in a university co-op program.
