About the role#
The Finance & Accounting Intern supports the team with financial reporting, data entry, and month-end close processes. This role provides hands-on experience in accounting, financial analysis, and investment operations, including exposure to the firm's real estate tax lien certificates and broader asset portfolio. This is a part-time, hybrid position with a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries and reconciliations under supervision.
- Create and maintain financial models to support portfolio and transaction analysis.
- Support the preparation of internal financial statements and related schedules.
- Research accounting guidance to assist in determining the appropriate treatment of transactions.
- Account for public and private capital transactions.
- Manage and track cash flow between internal entities.
- Assist with treasury activities, monitor cash movements, and maintain records.
- Support annual financial statement audits and compliance requests.
- Collaborate with internal teams on ad hoc projects and reporting.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with the intent to obtain a CPA license.
- A minimum 3.5 GPA is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with familiarity in Word, PowerPoint, and Access considered a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
- A strong academic foundation in accounting or finance coursework.
