About the role#
This internship provides a structured, hands-on training program for individuals interested in a career in hotel operations. You will rotate through various departments to gain practical experience and a comprehensive understanding of how a hotel functions. This position is open to NC State University students only.
What you'll do#
- Participate in cross-training across multiple departments, including Front Desk, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Sales, and Engineering.
- Learn and follow hotel policies, brand standards, and safety procedures.
- Provide professional service to guests, coworkers, and business partners.
- Assist managers with daily operational tasks and complete assigned projects.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding guest and employee information.
- Support the Front Desk with check-in, check-out, and reservations.
- Assist in Food & Beverage operations, including banquet or breakfast service and inventory.
- Learn housekeeping standards by inspecting rooms and supporting laundry processes.
- Help the Sales team with administrative tasks, client communication, and event preparation.
- Assist the Engineering team with facility maintenance and preventive tasks.
What you'll need#
- Interest in pursuing a career in hospitality or hotel operations.
- Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities.
- Attention to detail and a professional, positive attitude.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Enrollment in a hospitality, technical, or apprenticeship program is a plus.
- Basic computer skills are preferred.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks like lifting or bending.
Location & details#
- Raleigh, North Carolina.
- This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship.
- The schedule is flexible and may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
