About the role#
As a Radiology Extern at Summit Health, you will gain hands-on experience by shadowing a preceptor in a clinical setting. This role focuses on supporting the imaging team while learning the core workflows, safety policies, and quality control standards of a radiology department. This is a paid, part-time position based in Rye, New York.
What you'll do#
- Shadow preceptors during clinical and administrative tasks, always with patient permission.
- Assist with patient flow, including greeting and escorting patients through the facility.
- Act as a liaison between patients and the imaging team.
- Prepare rooms and equipment before and after imaging studies.
- Handle medical equipment and restock supplies as needed.
- Review screening questionnaires and assist with patient positioning.
- Set technical factors and administer radiation under supervision.
- Learn to manage quality control documentation, radiation safety policies, and the QA program.
- Support patient and staff experience initiatives.
