About the role#
Subsurface Construction Company, LLC is hiring an intern to join our project management team in Smithfield, North Carolina. This is a full-time, paid position that runs on a rolling basis. You will work on-site and participate in both office-based estimating and field-based construction tasks.
What you'll do#
- Create elevation views and cross sections using project plans and AutoCAD.
- Calculate material quantity takeoffs and request quotes from vendors.
- Help prepare project budgets by building construction schedules and estimating labor, material, and equipment needs.
- Join the project startup process by meeting with the team to create construction action plans.
- Perform field testing on deep foundations, soil nails, and anchors.
- Maintain a clean worksite and clean equipment.
- Follow all safety protocols, wear required personal protective equipment, and report any accidents or near misses.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a 3rd or 4th year student.
- A major in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- A valid, unrestricted driver's license and a driving record that meets company standards.
- Ability to pass a background check and a Worksteps Evaluation.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding safety rules, procedure manuals, and operating instructions.
- Physical ability to carry up to 100 pounds on uneven surfaces and work in various weather conditions.
