About the role#
STV is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern for the summer of 2027. This role is based in Washington, DC, and operates on a hybrid schedule. You will work alongside our team to support infrastructure projects from initial design through completion. We prefer candidates who can commit to a full-time schedule for at least three months.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design of civil engineering projects while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with architects, environmental engineers, and other project stakeholders.
- Interface with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to address project needs.
- Support the team by conducting site investigations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments.
- Prepare technical reports, project narratives, and development applications.
- Use software including AutoCAD and Civil 3D to contribute to engineering designs.
- Learn and apply current engineering standards and procedures.
- Help prepare technical proposals and documentation.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor or master degree program in Civil Engineering at an ABET-accredited university or NCEES equivalent.
- Experience in the architecture, engineering, or construction management industry.
- Knowledge of software such as MicroStation, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or Open Roads Designer.
