This Engineering Co-op position offers students an opportunity to apply academic concepts to real-world automotive security and access systems. You will work alongside experienced professionals to gain hands-on experience in product design, manufacturing, and validation testing.
What you'll do#
- Learn how parts are manufactured at STRATTEC.
- Work with customer, product, and process specifications.
- Perform validation testing of new product designs and manufacturing processes.
- Assist with problem-solving, benchmarking, and design of test fixturing.
- Participate in cross-functional teams including quality, product design, manufacturing, and tool design.
- Develop prototype models using CAD and assist with Design for Manufacturing.
- Create and document work instructions, engineering change notices, and support documentation.
- Conduct Design of Experiments, data collection, and analysis.
- Learn to organize and recommend Process and Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA/DFMEA).
- Gain exposure to manufacturing operations such as die casting, stamping, and machine shop processes.
- Present a summary of your experiences to the organization at the end of the term.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor degree program for Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Must be in good standing within your academic program.
- Enrollment in a credit course covering the co-op experience for the term.
- Ability to conduct yourself in a professional manner and follow all company work rules.
