About the role#
This internship program provides practical experience in the maintenance and troubleshooting of plant systems at a nuclear power facility. You will work alongside experienced technicians and engineers to support the measurement, monitoring, and control of plant processes. The role focuses on electrical maintenance, equipment calibration, and system optimization to help maintain plant reliability.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the calibration, testing, and maintenance of instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, and level sensors.
- Support troubleshooting efforts for control systems, wiring, and instrumentation issues.
- Interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and loop sheets.
- Participate in preventive maintenance activities and plant reliability checks.
- Document calibration data, maintenance activities, and test results.
- Follow all plant safety standards and procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 2-year or 4-year institution pursuing a degree or technical training in Instrumentation, Electrical, Controls, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of electrical maintenance practices, troubleshooting techniques, and safety protocols.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
- Good academic standing.
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to the South Texas Project Electric Generating Station.
