About the role#
As a Cost Engineering Intern, you will work within the Corporate Development department to identify and deliver cost savings across our engineering, procurement, and production functions. You will gain direct exposure to senior and executive management while working on strategic projects. This role involves collaboration with teams at our Swiss headquarters and other international sites.
What you'll do#
- Identify unnecessary costs in parts and assemblies.
- Collaborate with engineers on design to cost and manufacturing methods.
- Build target cost models based on material, process, tooling, and logistics.
- Evaluate alternatives by comparing cost, feasibility, and lead times.
- Research and assess potential suppliers, specifically focusing on the North American market.
- Support supplier qualification, development, and negotiations.
- Assist in make or buy and localization decisions.
- Prepare analysis and materials for management review.
- Support strategic, cross-functional projects alongside Engineering, Purchasing, and Production.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a comparable technical field, or a recent graduate.
- Ability to read technical drawings and familiarity with common manufacturing processes.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel.
- Exposure to CAD or ERP systems is an advantage.
- A self-starting and curious mindset with a willingness to take ownership of tasks.
- Adaptability to new situations and challenges.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal. German language skills are a plus.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site position based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Availability for a minimum of three months is required.
- Full-time work is preferred, though part-time may be considered.
- This is a paid internship.
