About the role#
This externship program provides practical experience in a small animal practice. It is designed to help you transition from your clinical preparation to independent practice. You will work alongside our veterinary team and receive mentorship throughout your rotation. We offer flexible scheduling, with programs typically lasting two to three weeks, though they can range from two to eight weeks depending on your curriculum requirements.
What you'll do#
- Experience the typical caseload of a small animal practice.
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans under mentor supervision.
- Assist in managing medical cases and providing wellness care.
- Scrub in to surgery.
- Practice client communication and technical skills.
- Produce medical records, including SOAPs, within daily practice time limits.
- Participate in patient care activities while upholding professional and ethical standards.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Current professional liability insurance.
- Ability to dress and behave in a professional manner consistent with our team standards.
