About the role#
This internship offers a chance to gain hands-on experience with fire alarm and electronic control systems. You will spend your time working in the field, learning how to install, maintain, and troubleshoot technology that keeps buildings safe and efficient. This program includes rotations through service and project delivery teams to provide a full view of how Siemens supports customers from initial installation to long-term maintenance.
What you'll do#
- Spend time on job sites learning to install, program, and service advanced HVAC automation and fire alarm systems.
- Participate in on-the-job training, job shadowing, and classroom instruction.
- Troubleshoot fire alarm systems and electronic control systems while diagnosing issues and performing repairs.
- Support new installations and system commissioning.
- Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to resolve system drawing discrepancies.
- Interface with customers to document service activities, explain system operations, and provide basic training.
- Spend time with the sales team to learn about customer engagement and solution design.
- Recommend system upgrades or enhancements to improve performance.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or state-recognized GED.
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a 2-year technical degree in a field such as Electro-Mechanical, Electrical Electronic Systems, Electrician Technician, or Fire Protection Technology.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week for the 10-week program.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and experienced with Windows-based laptops.
- Strong communication skills.
- Physically capable of lifting and transporting tools and equipment up to 75 pounds without assistance.
- Comfortable working in various environments, including rooftops, mechanical rooms, crawl spaces, and behind ceilings.
