About the role#
As a Software Engineer Intern at ShopBack, you will deliver real impact by shipping code that reaches millions of members globally. You will work within our engineering team to build, test, and deploy features using AI as a teammate from your first day.
What you'll do#
- Ship real features from design through to production.
- Own a scoped project with support from a mentor.
- Build with AI agents to speed up development and learn to verify their output.
- Create AI tools, agent workflows, or skills that the team continues to use.
- Write tests and evaluations to measure the quality of your AI-powered work.
- Work with technologies including TypeScript, Node.js, Postgres, Kafka, Kubernetes, GitLab, Datadog, Claude Code, and MCP.
What you'll need#
- Strong fundamentals in computer science or computer engineering.
- Ability to write clean code and familiarity with design patterns.
- Understanding of data structures, APIs, and testing.
- Experience building projects outside of class, such as hackathons, open source, or freelance work.
- Practical experience applying AI, such as building apps on LLM APIs or automating tasks.
- Curiosity and a skeptical mindset toward AI outputs.
- Ability to learn fast and comfort working through unknowns.

- Role is remote based in New York City, New York.
- This is a full-time, paid internship with rolling terms.
