About the role#
Seneca Foods is seeking a Can Manufacturing Intern to join the Technical Services team at our Baraboo, Wisconsin facility for the Summer of 2027. This is a full-time, paid position that supports our daily operations, efficiency improvements, and ongoing project work.
What you'll do#
- Assist with R&D activities related to alternative can coatings, steel substrate thickness, and material tempers.
- Prepare and evaluate test packs to assess shelf life, product runnability, and material performance.
- Label, track, and maintain records for test pack samples.
- Support the evaluation of customer quality complaints by organizing and logging incoming samples.
- Help implement and develop BRC Packaging Standards at the facility.
- Collaborate with Technical, Quality, and facility staff on food safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program related to Industrial, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering, Agriculture, or Biology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow established protocols.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and environments.
