About the role#
The Product Development Intern supports the Innovation team in La Crosse, Wisconsin. This role provides hands-on experience with food product development, including ingredient handling, formulation support, inventory management, and sample fulfillment. You will collaborate with the Innovation, Sales, and Customer Experience teams to ensure accurate delivery of product samples while gaining exposure to food science and the product development lifecycle.
What you'll do#
- Perform data entry in Word, Excel, and other internal databases.
- Read batch formulations and weigh ingredients using scales.
- Determine ingredient availability for sample requests.
- Coordinate with Customer Experience to obtain required labels and inserts.
- Communicate any delays or issues to the Innovation and Sales teams.
- Photograph visual samples and container fills.
- Use barcode scanners to manage ingredient inventory.
- Locate and pull samples from the warehouse for testing or fulfillment.
- Prepare samples for shipping, including using specialized materials like dry ice.
- Ensure samples are boxed, labeled, and ready for daily shipping deadlines.
- Develop an understanding of food ingredients, vendor names, and internal product codes.
- Participate in Innovation group meetings and special projects.
- Adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices and facility safety protocols.
- Identify, report, or correct safety hazards and stop unsafe acts.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one year in a Bachelor’s degree program with technical or scientific coursework.
- Minimum of one year of experience working in a professional lab environment.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

- Location: La Crosse, Wisconsin.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January through May).
- Schedule: Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week.
- Modality: On-site.
