About the role#
The Seattle Sounders FC medical team offers an educational internship for the 2027 Winter, Summer, and Fall sessions. This role provides an opportunity to build skills in athletic training while working alongside a multidisciplinary medical staff. You will support both the first team and MLS Next Pro.
What you'll do#
- Work under the direct supervision of Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapists, and Massage Therapists to support the health care of athletes.
- Assist with the implementation of treatments, rehabilitation, and injury prevention techniques.
- Maintain clinical equipment and inventory supplies.
- Keep training room and clinic areas organized, clean, and safe.
- Engage with players, coaches, and medical staff to support team operations.
- Participate in sports medicine educational programs and community service events.
- Attend meetings and programs as directed by medical staff.
- Work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, outside events, and home matches.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master of Science program in Athletic Training at a CAATE accredited college or university.
- Ability to receive academic credit for the internship.
- A signed affiliation agreement between your university and Seattle Sounders FC before you start.
- Commitment to a minimum of 12 weeks.
- Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a professional demeanor.
- Ability to handle pressure and work collaboratively with a team.
- Organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Willingness to comply with OSHA standards.

- This internship is located in Renton, Washington.
- The role is on-site at the training facility.
- This is an unpaid educational internship.
- You must be able to facilitate your own local travel and reside within Washington state.
