About the role#
This unpaid internship offers hands-on experience in behavioral neuroscience and addiction research. You will work in a collaborative laboratory setting, receiving close supervision and training in neuropharmacological research techniques. This role is designed to help students develop professional skills and prepare for future graduate or professional training.
What you'll do#
- Perform basic laboratory maintenance, including washing glassware and autoclaving.
- Prepare media, solutions, and buffers while replenishing laboratory supplies.
- Support animal behavioral studies by conducting assays and monitoring body weight, food, and water intake.
- Assist with drug administration and participate in animal handling and genotyping.
- Collect and analyze experimental data while following assigned experimental procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an academic program in Psychology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
- You must receive course credit for your work at Scripps Research. Proof of credit, such as a class schedule or school letter, is required.
- Ability to provide an Unpaid Intern MOU.

- This position is located on-site in San Diego, California.
- The internship is unpaid and part-time.
- Start and end dates are determined by your academic course schedule.
