About the role#
Schonfeld is looking for PhD candidates to join our Quantitative Research teams in Miami. This is a 10-week summer internship where you will work alongside researchers and developers to design predictive signals and improve algorithms for trade execution, portfolio construction, and risk management. You will contribute to the growth of a quantitative trading business while gaining insight into how our strategies function.
What you'll do#
- Design novel predictive signals and enhance algorithms for prediction, trade execution, portfolio construction, and risk management.
- Identify differentiating factors and backtest or validate your hypotheses.
- Collaborate with senior team members on research projects.
- Contribute to alpha research and analyze the economics of fundamental domains using alternative data.
- Connect with peers and senior leaders through learning sessions and workshops.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program for statistics, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, or computer science.
- Strong programming skills in Python, C, C++, Java, SQL, or R.
- Solid knowledge of probability and statistics, including machine learning or time-series analysis.
- Experience working with real-world datasets and creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate research ideas clearly and attention to detail.

- Compensation: Paid position with an expected prorated base pay range of $175,000 to $220,000 annually.
