About the role#
Schonfeld is looking for a Data Science Intern to join our team for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on creating proprietary datasets, conducting research, and supporting investment strategies. This is a full-time, on-site internship based in New York. The position is paid.
What you'll do#
- Optimize data ingestion pipelines to ensure high-quality inputs.
- Collaborate with portfolio manager teams to extract insights from data.
- Systematically generate features and signals for alpha generation.
- Develop domain expertise across various financial asset classes.
- Produce curated datasets to standardize research efforts.
- Conduct quantitative analysis to generate ideas.
- Validate hypotheses through backtesting.
What you'll need#
- A degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, data science, statistics, mathematics, or financial engineering.
- Knowledge of Python, SQL, or other programming languages.
- Proficiency with statistical and machine learning packages for quantitative analysis.
- Experience researching and analyzing financial datasets.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of financial asset classes including equity, futures, and fixed income.
- Familiarity with deep learning models and AI tools to accelerate work.
- Experience with Spark, Kafka, Docker, or Airflow is a plus.
- A strong passion for financial markets.
