About the role#
The Human Frontier Collective (HFC) Fellowship connects researchers and domain experts to work on high-impact projects that influence the future of AI. Fellows apply their expertise to design, evaluate, and interpret advanced generative AI systems while working within an interdisciplinary network of professionals. This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity with an estimated duration of six months and the potential for extension.
What you'll do#
- Engage in high-impact projects with partnered AI labs and platforms.
- Design, review, and optimize PyTorch models to improve deep learning workflows.
- Evaluate complex machine learning code and AI-generated implementations for efficiency and correctness.
- Provide advice on GPU optimization, scaling, and technical trade-offs.
- Collaborate with the research team to co-author technical reports and research papers.
- Participate in a network of innovators focused on advancing frontier AI.
What you'll need#
- PhD or postdoctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 1-3+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or Data Scientist.
- Strong proficiency in Python and modern machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and MLOps tools like Docker and Langchain.
- Detail-oriented approach and a passion for applied AI research.
Location & details#
- Location: Remote, candidates must be authorized to work in Canada.
- Schedule: Flexible, ranging from 10 to 40 hours per week.
- Selection process: Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
