About the role#
The Human Frontier Collective Fellowship connects researchers and domain experts to work on projects that shape the future of AI. As a Fellow, you will apply your expertise to design, evaluate, and interpret generative AI systems. This is a remote, independent contractor position with an estimated duration of six months and the potential for extension.
What you'll do#
- Engage in projects with partnered AI labs and platforms.
- Design, review, and optimize PyTorch models to improve deep learning workflows.
- Evaluate complex ML code and AI-generated implementations for efficiency and correctness.
- Provide advice on GPU optimization, scaling, and technical trade-offs.
- Collaborate with the research team to co-author technical reports and research papers.
What you'll need#
- A PhD or postdoctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 1-3+ years of experience working as a Machine Learning Engineer or Data Scientist.
- Strong proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS and MLOps tools like Docker or Langchain.
- A detail-oriented approach and an interest in applied AI research.
Location & details#
- This role is fully remote for candidates authorized to work in Canada.
- The position is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity.
- You may set your own schedule with flexible hours ranging from 10 to 40 hours per week.
