Student/Casual Cashier I

About the role#

As a Student/Casual Cashier I, you will work in the grocery department to provide efficient service and maintain store standards. You will report to the Head Cashier and be responsible for operating the point of sale system, assisting customers, and maintaining the store environment.

What you'll do#

• Process customer transactions on the point of sale system, aiming for a checkout speed of 35 items per minute.
• Package customer purchases and provide efficient, professional service.
• Achieve accurate cash balances and follow proper procedures for cheque cashing and credit cards.
• Perform housekeeping duties, including cleaning, filling, and facing shelves.
• Assist with inventory counts as assigned.
• Execute opening and closing procedures and operate equipment safely.
• Deliver customer orders as needed and remain alert to security and loss prevention.

What you'll need#

• Excellent customer service skills and a desire to work with the public.
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting.
• Willingness to further your knowledge through training.
• Availability to work a variety of shifts, including mornings and weekends.
• A driver’s license is considered an asset.
