Pharmacy Assistant

About the role#

Homestead Co-op is seeking a part-time Pharmacy Assistant to join the team at our Portage la Prairie Pharmacy. This position is open to students and offers the opportunity to support daily pharmacy operations in a retail environment.

What you'll do#

• Process new and refill prescriptions.
• Perform data entry, including dosage calculations.
• Package prescriptions, including product selection, counting, measuring, and labeling.
• Prepare blister packs and compounds.
• Manage the sale of prescription and non-prescription products using pharmacy software and point-of-sale systems.
• Provide customer service to patients in person and over the telephone.
• Order and receive pharmacy inventory and supplies.
• Maintain the over-the-counter department through stocking, pricing, and checking expiration dates.
• Perform administrative tasks such as inventory counts, processing invoices, and filing.
• Maintain pharmacy cleanliness, including cleaning dispensing equipment and general facility upkeep.
• Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial legal requirements, Pharmacy Standards of Practice, and internal health and safety procedures.
