About the role#
Discovery Co-operative is seeking a Part-Time Diner Clerk I to join the Food Department at our diner in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. This role is open to students currently enrolled in high school and provides an opportunity to gain experience in a retail environment.
What you'll do#
- Deliver customer service while supporting an efficient and organized operation.
- Prepare food and beverage menu items according to established specifications and safety standards.
- Take customer orders, process transactions through the point-of-sale system, and serve items from the diner menu.
- Monitor product quality, discard items that do not meet standards, and record equipment and product temperatures.
- Perform cashier duties and ensure an accurate cash balance at the end of each shift.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area through regular housekeeping tasks.
What you'll need#
- Must be under age 18, actively attending high school, and registered in classes.
- If aged 14 or 15, must have completed the Young Worker Readiness Certificate.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, demonstrate manual dexterity, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfort working with food service equipment such as soft-serve machines, coffee machines, drink mixers, hot dog rollers, freezers, and coolers.
- Ability to work safely in environments involving high temperatures associated with food preparation.
- Willingness to obtain a Safe Food Handling Certificate upon hire.
- Previous experience in customer service and food preparation is preferred.
