Saronic Technologies is seeking an Electrical Engineer Intern to support the design, development, and testing of autonomous surface vessels (ASV). This role offers hands-on experience in maritime innovation, focusing on the integration of electro-mechanical systems and software to support mission-specific operational requirements.
What you'll do#
- Support the engineering, design, and prototype development of electro-mechanical systems and software for autonomous vehicles.
- Participate in the testing and validation of ASV prototypes, including navigation, object detection, and collision avoidance algorithms.
- Monitor systems during testing, collect and organize data, and identify trends in component runtime and failures.
- Assist with power calculations, measurements, and the integration of propulsion systems and control surfaces.
- Conduct research and implement solutions for sensor integration, data processing, and machine learning applications.
- Utilize hand and power tools, Arduino, and Raspberry Pi programming to build and refine prototypes.
- Document progress, prepare engineering reports, and present findings to the team.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Electrical Engineering, Computational Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
- Basic experience operating, maintaining, diagnosing, testing, or repairing electrical or electro-mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with electrical schematic development and usage.
- Exposure to power calculations, measurement, and low voltage systems (3-phase AC is a plus).
- Basic software skills in Python, C/C++, Linux, or similar.
- Preferred exposure to SPICE-based circuit simulations, PCB design, networking concepts (ethernet, CAN, serial), and data acquisition systems.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) and maintain "U.S. Person" status for access to export-controlled information.
