About the role#
Sandvik is hiring a part-time Finance Intern Assistant at our Saskatoon facility. This role involves 16 hours of work per week with a flexible schedule. You will support the Finance team with core accounting functions, focusing on Accounts Payable and financial reporting while ensuring compliance with company policies.
What you'll do#
- Process vendor invoices, including accurate coding for prepayments, utilities, and consumables.
- Match purchase orders and receipts to invoices.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve outstanding issues.
- Prepare weekly payment runs as a backup for cheques, ACH, and wire transfers.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of the Accounts Payable subledger to the General Ledger.
- Assist with accruals and month-end entries.
- Support the Accounting Manager with month-end reports.
- Monitor open purchase orders and close completed ones.
- Respond to vendor inquiries.
- Collaborate with other departments to maintain accurate financial reporting.
- Support the business and External Service Center regarding escalated invoice mismatches.
- Assist during peak workloads and ensure proper transaction entry procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A basic understanding of accounting principles, specifically Accounts Payable and general ledger processes.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Excel.
- Willingness to learn new financial systems and processes.
- Previous experience in accounting, finance, or administrative roles is preferred.
- Experience with Business Central or similar ERP systems is an asset.
