About the role#
This internship provides students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience within the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe operations, gaming ventures, and other tribal businesses. Interns are placed in departments aligned with their degree goals, including Business Administration, Human Resources, and Industrial Engineering. You will work under the supervision of a department director or supervisor to gain managerial experience, professional development, and mentorship. This is an unpaid, on-site program.
What you'll do#
- Intern within Tribal Operations or other tribal enterprises.
- Perform duties and responsibilities relevant to your specific placement.
- Participate in cultural and academic professional development opportunities.
- Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers.
- Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other privacy regulations.
- Comply with all policies and procedures of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe.
- Complete all internship requirements within the program timeframe.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Currently enrolled as a student at a college or university.
- Cumulative 2.5 grade point average or higher.
- Ability to provide documentation of university requirements or scope of work for the internship.
- Submission of an official transcript and class schedule during the recruitment process.
- Submission of a completed internship packet, including an application cover sheet, a letter of interest, a resume, and a letter of recommendation from a university advisor.
- Ability to obtain HIPAA certification.
- Proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Native American preference applies to all positions.
