Internship

About the role#

This internship provides students with the opportunity to gain professional experience within the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe operations, gaming, or other tribal business ventures. Interns work under the supervision of the Tribal Development Coordinator to develop skills that align with their academic goals and curriculum. Placements are typically related to the student's degree, though assignments may vary based on tribal needs. This is an unpaid, on-site program with rolling availability.

What you'll do#

• Intern within Tribal Operations or other tribal enterprises.
• Receive mentorship from department directors or assigned supervisors to gain managerial experience.
• Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
• Comply with all tribal policies, procedures, and scholarship requirements.
• Complete all internship requirements within the designated program timeframe.
• Maintain strict student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and other privacy regulations.
• Participate in cultural and academic professional development opportunities.

What you'll need#

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Current enrollment at a college or university, with a focus on majors such as Business Administration, Human Resources, or Industrial Engineering.
• A cumulative 2.5 grade point average or higher.
• Ability to operate business computers and software, including the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to obtain HIPAA certification.
• Submission of an official transcript, class schedule, completed internship packet, and signed internship agreement.
• Note: Native American preference applies to all positions. Candidates may be subject to background checks and drug screenings.
