About the role#
This internship provides exposure to state and local tax practices. You will work alongside subject matter experts to help multi-state companies identify tax savings opportunities. The role is full-time for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Identify tax savings opportunities for clients.
- Assist with tax controversies, including preparing clients for auditor discussions and representing them at hearings or appeal meetings.
- Prepare formal protests.
- Research tax issues and draft technical memoranda.
- Manage inquiries from clients and tax authorities.
- Review documentation and perform detailed calculations using raw data.
- Follow privacy laws and internal governance regarding data and records.
What you'll need#
- Current progress toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or Economics.
- Graduation date within one year of the internship.
- Minimum Overall and Major GPA of 2.8.
- Completion of 6 to 12 Accounting hours depending on the practice.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong research skills and internet navigation ability.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage ambiguity, and work both independently and within a team.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- A valid driver's license.
