    About the role#

    The Graphic Design Intern works within the Visual Identity Team to support the university's engagement and fundraising initiatives. You will create original designs for print, web, and digital platforms while learning the Rutgers brand and visual standards. This role involves coordinating with staff, print vendors, photographers, and freelancers to produce communication collateral.

    What you'll do#

    • Meet with team members and project managers to define project requirements.
    • Collaborate with a creative writer to produce on-brand design pieces.
    • Develop visual concepts for partner buy-in and pitches.
    • Select colors, images, text styles, and layouts that follow visual guidelines.
    • Review final files for errors before they go to print or web publication.
    • Assist with photo research and project management tasks.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in coursework for graphic design, visual communications, or a related field.
    • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
    • Familiarity with photography, photo editing, and retouching.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple assignments and feedback.
    • A portfolio of relevant design work may be requested.

    Location & details#

    • This is a paid, part-time internship.
    • The role is hybrid, with in-person work required in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
    • Expect to work approximately 15 to 20 hours per week.
    • The term is rolling.
